“Channeling Miyagi” by Duke Gatsos

Wax on
applied in circles
emits swirls emerge
against black finish cloudy
buffs covering scratches with
murky confusion Confucius say
shine like the sun on Kreeseā€™s minions
and their merciless strikes no matter how
evil meeting hate with deft dodges and blocks
mimicking rhythmic moves up under around no
matter how hard I rub blemishes stay to incite hurt
from dumb mistakes like whapping a cement pillar at a
mcdonalds drive thru with my breakaway mirror parallel
parking mishaps dings from stones thrown names
called roadside I fend them off like Danielson
fingerprints on windows touches of people
surface cause pause at the passenger
handle the pull of particular hands
I had the honor to drive sit near
hold lock in private space
all gone in the haze of
memory and wiped
clean to detail
wax off.
