“Deep Blue” by M J Eaton

What
if anything
will the Indigo Bunting
leave as a legacy?
I once saw a flock
in Virginia.
A sight which has
stayed and stayed.
I have said that
if cut in half
they appear as though
cobalt
clear through.
Tiny blue darkness
a flower come alive
flit and bob
not even aware
of their glory.
