“With the Salesman Comes the Scourge” by Jason Lee Miller

With the salesman comes the scourge
The emptiness the void the vast nothing
He brings to fill it up and he shines it up
The Nothing polished like a brown-noser’s apple pocket
From there also the pretty echo of weighty words the bluff
Round and heavy as a whispered nothing
Less than liquid in your hand the Scourge is the wanting
The salesman holds in hands made for wanting
