“Shopping with My Mother” by Pauletta Hansel

Her black hair gleamed
in the florescent light
above the racks of dry goods,
housewares, shining shelves
of 14-carot treasures buried
among the plated and plastic jewels;
my beacon in the sea of polyester
abdomens—I floated safe
among them as long as I could see her
calmly sailing through the aisles.
Now each weekly voyage
I set her again adrift
with all the other white-capped
ladies, only shopping carts
to steady their sway.
I watch her sink
a bit, more shelves beyond
her reach ,and how at every turn
she wavers, then remembers
the way.

An excellent read that will keep readers – particularly me – coming back for more! Also, I’d genuinely appreciate if you check my website QN7 about Thai-Massage. Thank you and best of luck!
