“Out of a rented existence” by Pam Gibbs

While most girls drew ponies,
she pencil-scratched houses
on the back of first-grade homework

later with a wash of watercolor and ink
drew farm houses and sea cottages
on rough hand-made paper,

took to walking small-town streets at night
glimpsing family scenes in picture windows
placed hope in that which she did not hold,

finally found home in a mountain cabin, and
by the grace of a swing on the back porch,
she took root with the peach trees.

Hmm it seems like your blog ate my first comment
(it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up
what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole
thing. Do you have any recommendations for beginner blog writers?
    I’d certainly appreciate it.
