“Granulation” by Karen George

.            ~ After James Wright’s “Jewel”

High up the locust crests
the hill past my condo
that a crow is using to caw:
a cry, a screech
splintering into the chasm of sky.
If you listen near the window,
eyes closed, your sadness
churns crystal.
