Why I Write

I write a poem everyday
for a month, a year, a decade, or until I can learn
to believe that at least my words are something
I can count on.

Poetry is my drug I can think on
and my mind
is addicted to talking herself out
for a walk.

My my dad was addicted too
but at least poetry won’t kill me
in my sleep.

I really like this poem as well. It’s great when relieving stress can also be something productive. That was also a very thought provoking, if tragic, ending to the poem. Very nice, S.L.
