though it’s been decades.
I used to be good at roller skating,
a lifetime ago. In my teenage years,
we had rock-&-roll; I loved
to dance, but mostly in private.
I was a Baptist back then.
Now I roll my chair up
to my desk, get out one
of my roller ball pens
& journal, & let the words roll
off the tip of my tongue.
All the while, I may have a cup
of coffee & a cinnamon roll.
