Disjointed

your tongue tempts
my mind with the words
I love you until I
wring my fingers together
feeling the separation from
themselves
remembering
that body and soul rarely feel freedom
serendipitously.

I pray one day we can speak in poems
instead of producing pieces of ourselves
to be consumed by one another
later
in solitude.

maybe by then we will stop pretending
to be strangers who know too much
about the other.

S.L., your poems have been phenomenal. I love the idea behind this piece and that last stanza is quite compelling. Very nice.

Thank you! I loved your Reply to a Lonely Soul. (Sorry if I didn’t get the title quite right, but it stuck with me from yesterday!)

Oh, I am so happy someone did see that poem, I cared a lot for that one. Thank you so much. I’ll keep looking for your work!
