contents awaiting hot biscuits
with butter. sticky, gooey,
rich and sweet
my grandson’s favorite
as a young boy,
he called them “pig aserves.”
we laughed. mixed
with drool, running down his chin
we sit at table and talk
of life’s complexities
we enjoy the sweet
while we can
