“In the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign,
Nebuchadnezzar dreamed such dreams that his spirit
was troubled, and his sleep left him.”
Daniel 2:1
An extraordinary statue stood in the midst
of the people: head of gold, chest and arms of silver,
we thought its luster would never tarnish,
while in fact its value decreases daily
thoughts were corrupt, but appearance was promising
middle and thighs of bronze, hard resilient
legs of iron, unmatched in thier defense
feet of iron and clay, frail and unstable
a small stone struck the base of the monument,
and all the kings horses, and all the kings men
couldn’t . . . dreams do come true.
Dennis, the poem seems modern and prophetic. Also reminds me of “Ozymandias” Love the line from “Humpty Dumpty” and the dream frame.
Thank you!
I love the imagery here. Great job.
Thank you!
