Running like I’ve lived
I start out slow
With insecure steps
Experience the pleasure
Of the early energy
Then somewhere in the middle
The miles are lost
To good memories and trying to forget
The pain of the ever new strides
Taken out of heart
For the sight of the end
Is near and like a desperate prisoner
I run faster and harder
Trying to beat time
In perfect time for the upcoming Olympics, for all couch potatoes. Been so long since I’ve run! I especially like the title.
Good poem! Energy builds along the way like the run. Love the title!
I understand that surge of energy that comes when the end is in sight…
