What Others Say About Cheeseburgers

You're now here in Dean Crawford's world. Forget your troubles, settle back in your Tom Robbins La-Z-Boy for a delightful tramp through the little Kansas cowpoke town of "You're Now Here." I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon than with Calvin Cheeseburgers, Katie McGhee, (the villain) Ike Drogue, and the other characters who inhabit the town, including two ghosts-on-call-when-needed. Stick around for the inadvertent invention of the cheeseburger. It's a Blast.

—Jim Lally, author of Stick Tight Man

When I opened the pages of Dean Crawford's book, Cheeseburgers, I expected it to be funny. After all, I always looked forward to reading Dean's latest when we attended the same weekly writing group. I didn't expect (and maybe I should have) that I would get carried away by the romance between Calvin and Katie. There is so much heart in these two characters who seem meant to find one another. The feelings I had for Calvin and Katie extended outward to the town and townspeople introduced in this novel. You're Now Here is a quirky place filled with people—good and evil, helpful time-hopping ghosts, and fantastic and innovative (for the time) food. You'll want to stay awhile, get to know everyone, sit down at Cheeseburgers, and taste one of Calvin's delicious creations to remember it all by. I wish I could read it again for the first time.
