Lexington is celebrating the first annual Lexington Poetry Month this June. For a whole 30 days, registered poets will be writing and submitting a poem to the Accents Poetry Blog at lex.poetry.month (at) gmail.com to prove that they can complete a poem every day.

As the brainchild of Accents’ founder Katerina Stoykova-Klemer and Morris books’ Hap Houlihan, Lexington Poetry Month encourages everyone, not just poets, to take some time to appreciate and reflect on poetry and arts in and around Lexington, KY.

To enter, just purchase a book by Accents Publishing, Broadstone Books, Old Cove Press, the University of Kentucky Press, or Wind Publications from the Morris book shop, Sqecial Media, or Joseph-Beth in Lexington. Then, send an email to lex.poetry.month (at) gmail.com with your name, e-mail, which book you bought and when, a 50-word or less bio and the reason you want to participate in Lexington Poetry Month. If you don’t want your name to show up online, that’s fine. We allow anonymous sign-ups.

Just don’t forget: because the celebration starts on June 1st, you must sign up before then! With over 30 people already signed up, we are excited to be surprised.
