“Love Poem” by Rudy Thomas

So
you are willing
to allow me to put words
before you
in a series of lines,
stanzas,
& images,
that succor my
struggle of turning
outward everything
internal so they become a rushing
like Old Seventy Creek after
rain?

If so,
you must be willing
to understand that my words
will wrap around all of you
both the sensuous (many lines)
& the rational (no stanzas)
& give form to my
aesthetic yearning
to touch your everything
& risk unbridled gushing
poetic after
such pain.
