“Cleaning out my mother’s house: A Litany” by Marianne Worthington

Yellowed Tupperware lids
from the 1960s

Pressure cookers, copper-
bottomed cook pots, fryer
baskets, rusted sieves

A half dozen egg plates,
two dozen Pyrex dishes
(who needs so many?)

Corningware teapot,
blue cornflower

Hearts of Palm long
past expiration

Table top meat grinder,
clamps heavier than this day

A set of teeth smirking
in a mason jar

Six decades of dust mounded
into corners like ant hills
