But in this world, time cannot be doubted: it proceeds
in reverse, thereby making our last moment the moment
that we met; the gorgeous frantic spring of arrival when
so much is about to begin. This is how we part: not
in fading darkness, obscured to each other, but staring
at the sun, retina-burned by love’s newest blaze. An ending

that allows us to question: will this continue, or is it a memory.
