“Walked (Rolled) Off” by Jude Lally

I couldn’t keep a pen if my life depended on it!
When someone asks for something to write with
I assume one’s still where I saw it used last

Look on my desk I say
When none turn up
I instruct Look in the pen-holder by the wall
Still no luck? One’s bound to be around

After my father looks in the kitchen
under the sofa, in all the drawers
he says Let me look out in my car

He returns in 15 seconds
writes me a check
I thank him, still stewing on the missing

And I don’t even use them I reason
Except every now and then when I sign my name
Maybe that’s the problem
Maybe that’s the key
