Two people cannot refuel each other if one was already out of gas.
You cannot allow the world to break you down,
And then expect someone else to want to put you back together.

We write books and produce movies romanticizing broken girls,
Promising that if you tell the girl crying in the corner that she is pretty,
She will fall into your arms and instantly regain confidence.

No one tells you that a girl who hates herself,
Will hate you for trying to tell her that she is worth it,
That she will leave your arms every night convinced she cannot love you right.

We say that those who are hard to love need love the most,
But that love does not have to come from other sources.
Once we learn to love our reflections, we have learned how to love anything.

Stop searching for someone to guide you through life,
Be a person others want to take the journey with,
Not something fragile they feel they have to constantly protect.

Stop trying to become someone’s fixer-uper,
Being broken is not beautiful,
But what is, is not being afraid to fix yourself, even if you cut your hands on the pieces.
