“THE CONGRESS OF BUTTERFLIES” by Bront Davis

A flutter of orange among the lilacs
While a dusting of newsprint
Skims the grass.

An aria from the opera of lepidoptera.

A pause and an aside
And a momentary glide
Relief from the jagged flight.
Lines cursive and recursive.
I return to my book.
The weeds in the garden can wait.
