“Writing a poem a day taught me something” by Jennifer Beckett

–For the LPM-ers

How many ways can I talk
about hunger? I am fortunate
that my true longing
is rarely physical need.
And it occurs to me
that all month I’ve been writing
longing, which makes me
wonder—do I have few ideas
but many, a lot, several, multiple
eventually redundant ways
of posing them?

How many of my writings
are the same chameleon
in a different scarf? And do
I care? Chameleons and scarves, like writing
obsessions, are likeable, relatable enough.
So get lost in my silken swirls.
Some of them will
match your own.
