NAMES
I’d like to go free of names
for a day or two,
see like a child again
for whom names like
deciduous and hydrogen bonding
have no meaning,
no power to distract the mind
and the heart, and
one can still see and feel
without prejudice
the mystery in a tree or
a drop of water.

at the end of day one i was trying to describe the sort of poetry i had been finding and i used your poem “after” to help me describe to my friend what a genuine poem looked like, one written by someone who knew how to use words to simply speak truthfully. so i’m pleased my poem pleased you…but did you really swim that river?
I suggest that it is possible for you to do that. There are places without names where you might start if only for a short while.
