Cohabitation

You know
and I know
that this
is not working.

“Good morning” at the coffeemaker,
“How was your day?” at the kitchen table,
“Could you please clean up your shoes?” in the hallway.

But who are fooling?

You know
and I know
that this
is not working.

I stay out of your way.
You stay out of mine.
No contact.
No conflict.
No nothing.

This is no way to live.

So let’s cut the bullshit.
You know
and I know
that this
is not working.

Something has to change.

Yeah, this was rough. I really like the use of repetition, which is exactly how unspoken arguments and conflicts feel. They happen over and over and nothing changes.
