Purpose Proposition

No one discusses the 21st century bard
Wordsworth, Whitman, Wilde, wave from their windows
Where is he now?
I would like to know
Where is she now?
Is she born yet?
I am looking for this person in myself
My Kinsmen said it is high time to begin the world
It is time once again
The exploration of the pen
We have disturbed the bottom of the ocean
We broke into space, caused our commotion
Both righteous and intellectual missions
However, it is time to wake the bards
The world is on the same eloquent easel Frost and Yeats painted their verses on
But the paper is new
We are almost made out of technology
Our leaps and bounds
Would astound and profound Poe
But we must take off the crowns
Until we explore the pen

Simon, I love the image of the crowned poets of the past waving us on to give new expression to our world. Your poem knows we can’t help write out of tradition but must add the new.
