Stranded

Stranded at the lake.
Five days, No car.
Where would I go?
Dry county. No bar.

Transportation options,
Swim or boat.
Kayak or pontoon,
Sink or float.

Unintentionally unplugged,
No internet connection,
No delicious distractions,
Just forced self-reflection.

I’ve watched every film,
Read every book on the shelf,
Now, I’m playing Monopoly,
All by myself.

I swear there are voices,
Coming from the wood.
I think they’re speaking Dutch.
And they’re up to no good.

So much frickin’ solitude,
For society, I’m pining.
Too much peace and quiet,
Can make you go all “Shining.”

Please, Almighty,
Get me back to town,
Before I dive in,
And intentionally drown.
