Jazz Personae Poem #5 by Elizabeth Beck

The evening fades on Coletrane
when the moon exposes Thelonius
and the stars dance to Miles
my dads dance on the patio
candles flicker fire flies flit
in the air soft with honeysuckle
lilacs and rose blooms in the garden
where the mournful cry of Billie
haunts the shadows behind me
