“Kimura’s secret” by Michelle Knickerbocker

A modern Methuselah
he said his secret
to live so very long
was eating light
His mouth gaping freely
a golden Koi leaping
from Elysium’s shimmering pond
eyes wide, ablaze
vacuuming in the fiery
wisps of manna
catching and stretching
the dangling, almost invisible
connections to the source.
