“Until Next Time” by Christopher Miller

Like a copious amount
of heady libations
inebriates my mind,
passion’s intensity
by volume intoxicates
my heart.

The mind clouds.
Loses all contact
with notion of sanity.
Soul abdicates control.
Surrenders to
love’s rapture.

I imbibe in both
ecstatic states until
consumption ceases,
when elation and joy
are replaced by the
ache of revocation.

Clarity arrives
when I awake
the morning after,
with the conviction
that I will never
do that again.
