In one week at the Morris book shop, The Honey Badgers will read from their new poetry collections.

Hosted by Iris Law, The Honey Badgers consist of Sally Wen Mao, Michelle Chan Brown, and Cathy Linh Che, and are being brought by Kundiman, an organization that “gives writers opportunities to inscribe the Asian American story onto American experience, transforming and enriching the landscape of our national culture.”.

The Honey Badgers [Don’t Give a] Book Tour
3 award-winning Asian American poets read in Lexington 

Sally Wen Mao of Ithaca, NY, author of Mad Honey Symposium (winner of the Kinereth Gensler Award); Michelle Chan Brown of Washington, DC, author of Double Agent (winner of the Kore First Book Award); and Cathy Linh Che of Brooklyn, NY, author of Split (winner of the Kundiman Poetry Prize) will make their Lexington debut together at this unique reading celebrating the poetics of fearlessness and tenacity, in the spirit of the honey badger. “Poetry is dangerous.”

About the Poets

Sally Wen Mao is the author of Mad Honey Symposium (Alice James Books, 2014), which is the winner of the 2012 Kinereth Gensler Award and was a finalist for the 2012 Tupelo First/Second Book Prize. A Kundiman fellow, she holds a BA from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA from Cornell University, where she is currently a lecturer.

Michelle Chan Brown’s Double Agent was the winner of the Kore First Book Award, judged by Bhanu Kapil. A Kundiman fellow and two-time Pushcart Prize nominee, Michelle is poetry editor of Drunken Boat and has received scholarships from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, the Vermont Studio Center, and others.
