I’ve been stretching myself so far out

I start eating more salad,
tell myself I want to be around longer
for a long life of eating salad?
At least I’ll fit into my favorite shirt.

I was way too big before
It will shrink in the wash
(I should know how to shrink things in the wash, right?)
I’ve started running. Yesterday in the rain.
A rush of cold water poured right onto my crotch
(That’s how things shrink in the wash)

I’m still too big, but so is my favorite shirt.
I had to buy new clothes, and I really like
this gray shirt, that fits nice, long sleeves,
but it isn’t too hot.

My favorite shirt is about to get packed away.
Stored with my high school year book.
Forgotten like my high school friends.
