or the wicked wine

but the sweet garble of the obscure raven

that keeps her lost in the

syllables of time,

the verbification of slant rhyme, 

the pulling apart of poetry—

the wriggling and worming

of words upon weightless

a nonsensical truth without proof.

Or the double double toil

of trouble.  Consequences to be

she wrecks herself

holding up falling down

fabled fences and those

She is wrapped in

elemental disguises

floating anointed

amongst ghostly men.

A faint clever creeping ever

over the ancient skin

of her supple surging basin,

raises locks, stocks and burdens within.

Flooded empty struggles dance 

the subtle kiss into a tight fist.

Straddling the splintery planks between white

bridges, her  hanging balance

is defeated.

In a fleet, her crystalline thoughts repeat, 

“I must prepare a zoetic note 

and a treasure map with a legend.”

Her diaphanous form freezes

as she slips past the plum tattered

night.  Amazing winged homeostasis

tethers her between

tangerine moonbeams

and the darling hymns of

death’s door nails—

hammering memories home.

She summons up dust to

build bouquets of rock,

conducting the fire to fear the rust. 

Orion then yokes his galaxy to hers.

All is well and love is here.

Edelweiss is delicately woven

through her carnelian mane.

The steel blue hues of his eyes

are fastened to a comatose sadness

that bites at the helm of his steadiness. 

The roaring spirits prowl through

the ruined wilderness—

evergreens full of black,

sticky, bitter senryu.

The thin and feeble reeds

standing tall in swampy holes.

A reunion of dead poetry arrives

at the gilding hour, the midnight velvet,

tempting lover’s hate, turns of fate,

twisting lies into truth

and truth into Due North.

Across Aeschylean Fields

the seeds are meticulously spread.

Their hand-fasted

ready wrists,  insist the kiss

and an “I will”

fits each and every

correspondence,

delays the penalties of

all their ills,

keeps out the dangers

of strangers and friends,

alike. Diversity of fortunes

roll coins onto eyelids.

The inaugural dawn

teems with possibilities—

catching fevers and

chilling, haunting subtleties.

She grows tired with mourning.

Her head is misty and weary.

The bottle of cross bones

dried up many suns ago.

She knows

not of his love for her

in this spooky little world.

She cannot see his genius.

He said he loved her once.

Just one slip,

she is dancing naked in the air,

cracking the ivory whip, falling to her death.
