Nine of us gather to Pray,

                                        Plan,

                                               Laugh.

And love the work and each other.

Eight sweet brown faces, one accepted white one,

On a recent day, another place.

It could have been us

As we gathered,

                           Prayed,

                                     Planned and

                                                   Laughed.

The sainted nine, gone first,

Walk through heaven’s gate,

May they pray for those of us

Left to cry, grieve and hold on.
