June is Lexington Poetry Month. This month is dedicated to Lexington poetry as well as a month for our city to celebrate all poetry. The rest of the nation can have April. June is ours!
Lexington Poetry Month belongs to Lexington. The Mayor decreed it so. You are free to do whatever you want with it. And, if you have an event you’d like to promote, let us know and we might put it on our LPM Event Calendar.
But Accents wants you to participate. Just like last year, we are inviting every single Lexington citizen, Lexington ex-patriot, or anyone who simply likes Lexington to write a poem every day from June 1st to June 30th. Of those, you’ll share your work with us, we’ll post them, and you get to see what everyone else is doing, too! Last year, we had well over 1,000 poems posted to the blog and we have no doubt we’ll double (even triple) that number this year.
More details about how to post your poems will be announced shortly. But in the mean time, go ahead and sign up by clicking here. You’ll receive an automated response with a special code. Do not lose this code or share it with anyone! More details will follow.
Also, anyone who wants to give us a shorter name for Accents Publishing’s Lexington Poetry Month Writing Challenge 2014, please leave us your ideas in the comments below!
